ANTIDIABETES DRUGS
Why this applies to rosiglitazone, glimepiride
rosiglitazone, glimepiride falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Ba Ji Tian interacts with.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Avandaryl combines two diabetes medicines: glimepiride, which pushes your body to release more insulin, and rosiglitazone, which helps your cells respond to insulin better. Both work to lower blood sugar. The concern with Ba Ji Tian is unpredictability. In animal studies it has nudged blood sugar in both directions, so when paired with your medication it could either add to the sugar-lowering (raising your risk of a low, with shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion) or work against it (leaving your sugars running high).
Keep in mind this is theoretical, based mostly on lab and animal work, not solid human studies. If you do take it, check your glucose more often than usual and let your doctor or pharmacist know before starting, since your dose may need a tweak.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the rosiglitazone, glimepiride page
“Siberian cocklebur worries me most on this page. Its seeds have caused severe, worsening drops in blood sugar in people, and rosiglitazone with glimepiride (Avandaryl) already pulls glucose down through two separate mechanisms, so these pairings deserve real vigilance.”
