Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Clonidine
Clonidine falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Banaba interacts with.
Human and animal research suggests that banaba can lower blood pressure.
Interaction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports..
Here's the thing to know about pairing banaba with clonidine: both can nudge your blood pressure downward. Clonidine already works by calming your nervous system to slow your heart rate and relax your blood vessels. Banaba, in some human and animal studies, also appears to lower blood pressure a bit. Stack the two together and the effects may add up.
In real life, that could mean feeling lightheaded, dizzy, drowsy, or faint, especially when you stand up quickly. The evidence here is fairly limited and the blood-pressure effect of banaba is modest, so it's not a reason to panic. Still, since clonidine is potent, it's smart to check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding banaba, and keep an eye on your numbers.

This page covers Banaba only. If you take other supplements — a multivitamin, a sleep aid, something for joints — the Clonidine page lists 138 supplements it has a documented interaction with, worst first, each one explained.
The most serious there right now: Activated Charcoal (major), American Hellebore (major), American Mistletoe (major), Tyramine (major) and Adrafinil (moderate).
By severity: 4 major · 113 moderate · 21 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Clonidine page
“American hellebore is the ingredient I would want a clonidine (Catapres) patient to know about first. Its alkaloids lower blood pressure even in small doses and slow the heart, both things clonidine already does, so the combination can drop someone dangerously low.”

About Banaba
What is Banaba?
- Blood sugar support
- Type 2 diabetes
- Weight management
- High blood pressure
- Cholesterol support
Banaba is a leaf extract most often used to help support healthy blood sugar, and small early studies suggest its active compound corosolic acid may modestly lower glucose. The overall evidence is limited and short-term, so it should not replace prescribed diabetes care. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you take blood sugar medicine.
About Clonidine
What Is Clonidine Used For?
Brand name: Catapres
Clonidine is used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Several products — including Clonidine Hydrochloride tablets, Javadin oral solution, Nexiclon XR extended-release tablets, and Catapres-TTS skin patches — are approved for this use, either alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines.
Extended-release formulations — including Onyda XR oral suspension and clonidine hydrochloride extended-release tablets (such as Kapvay) — are approved to treat ADHD in children and teenagers ages 6 to 17, either on their own or alongside stimulant medications. Separately, clonidine injection products (Duraclon and others) are used alongside opioid pain medicines to treat severe cancer pain that opioids alone cannot control adequately.

Clonidine Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Clonidine as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Banaba — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
