Here's the simple version: banaba may gently nudge your blood sugar down on its own, and so does dapagliflozin (Farxiga), which lowers sugar by helping your kidneys flush extra glucose out through your urine. Put the two together and their effects can add up, so your blood sugar could drop more than expected.

This isn't about banaba changing how your body breaks down Farxiga. It's just two things pushing sugar in the same direction. Watch for signs of low blood sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or feeling foggy, especially if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea. The evidence here is limited, and food amounts are unlikely to matter much, but please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding a banaba supplement.

What Is Dapagliflozin Used For?

Brand name: Farxiga

Dapagliflozin is used for several serious conditions. It helps improve blood sugar control in adults and children aged 10 and older with type 2 diabetes (alongside diet and exercise). It also reduces the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease or multiple cardiovascular risk factors.

Farxiga (dapagliflozin) is additionally approved to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death, hospitalization, and urgent visits due to heart failure in adults with heart failure — and to slow the progression of chronic kidney disease, including reducing the risk of kidney failure and cardiovascular death, in adults with chronic kidney disease at risk of getting worse.
