Amlodipine (Istin) is a calcium channel blocker that already does one main job well: it relaxes your blood vessels to bring your blood pressure down. The thinking here is that basil might gently push in the same direction, so the two together could lower your pressure a little more than amlodipine alone.

Honestly, this concern comes from lab and animal studies, not human trials, so the evidence is weak. The sprinkle of basil on your pasta is not going to be an issue at all. If you take a concentrated basil supplement or essential oil, the theoretical worry is too much of a drop, which can show up as dizziness, lightheadedness, headache, or feeling faint when you stand up. Keep an eye on those signs, and check with your pharmacist or doctor before starting any basil supplement.
