Lotrel pairs two blood pressure medicines: amlodipine (a calcium channel blocker) and benazepril (an ACE inhibitor). Both are already working to lower your blood pressure. The concern here is simple addition. In animal studies, concentrated basil extract nudged blood pressure down a bit on its own. So in theory, stacking it on top of Lotrel could push your numbers a little lower than intended.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical and based only on animal research, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. The basil you sprinkle on pasta is a non-issue. If you're using concentrated basil supplements or essential oils daily, just watch for dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint when you stand, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.
