Your Uniretic combines two blood pressure medicines: hydrochlorothiazide (a water pill) and moexipril (an ACE inhibitor). Both work to bring your blood pressure down. The thinking here is that basil might gently lower blood pressure too, so stacking it on top of your medication could, in theory, push your numbers down a little further than expected.

I want to be honest about the evidence though. This idea comes only from animal studies, not from people, so it's quite weak. The basil in your cooking is almost certainly nothing to worry about. The bigger question would be concentrated basil supplements or essential oils taken daily. If you use those, just watch for signs of low blood pressure like dizziness, lightheadedness, or feeling faint when standing, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor before starting them.
