Lercanidipine hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Beet interacts with.
In vitro research suggests that betanin, the major pigment in beet, competitively inhibits CYP3A4 in a dose-dependent manner similarly to strong CYP3A4 inhibitor ketoconazole.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist with lercanidipine (Zanidip), a calcium channel blocker you take to lower blood pressure. Your body clears this drug using an enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies hint that betanin, the deep red pigment in beets, may slow that enzyme down. If that happened in real life, lercanidipine could build up a bit, possibly nudging your blood pressure lower and bringing on more of its usual side effects like dizziness, flushing, headache, or swollen ankles.
I want to be honest about the evidence though. This is only a test-tube finding, not something proven in people, and normal food amounts of beets are very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated beetroot supplements are the bigger question mark. If you're considering those regularly, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.

Here's the simple version. Lercanidipine (Zanidip) is a calcium channel blocker that lowers your blood pressure by relaxing and widening your blood vessels. Beets, especially concentrated beetroot juice, are rich in nitrates that your body turns into nitric oxide, which can also relax blood vessels. So in theory the two could nudge your blood pressure in the same direction, adding up to a slightly bigger drop.
The good news is that the evidence here points to a small, short-lived effect rather than a lasting one, so this is rated minor. If you do enjoy a lot of beetroot juice and notice dizziness, lightheadedness, flushing, or feeling faint when you stand up, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor. Eating beets as a normal food is unlikely to be a problem.
