Here's the idea behind this one. Briumvi (ublituximab) is an infusion used for relapsing multiple sclerosis, and it works by quieting down part of your immune system, specifically your B cells. Some beta-glucans, mainly the yeast and mushroom types, may have the opposite job: they can stimulate the immune system. So in theory, taking an immune-boosting supplement while you're on a medication meant to calm the immune system could work against what your treatment is trying to do.

I want to be honest with you though, this concern comes from lab and animal research, not real patient studies, so it's quite theoretical. The oat and barley beta-glucans people take for cholesterol are far less likely to matter here. Still, before adding any beta-glucan supplement, run it past your neurologist or pharmacist.

What Is Ublituximab-xiiy injection Used For?

  • Ublituximab-xiiy injection is used to treat adults with various forms of multiple sclerosis (MS; a disease in which the nerves do not function properly and people may experience weakness, numbness, loss of muscle coordination, and problems with vision, speech, and bladder control), including :

    • clinically isolated syndrome (first episode of neurologic symptoms)

    • relapsing-remitting forms (course of disease where symptoms flare up from time to time)

    • secondary progressive forms (course of disease where relapses occur more often).

  • Ublituximab-xiiy injection is in a class of medications called monoclonal antibodies. It works by decreasing the action of immune cells that may cause nerve damage.
