Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) + Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Pyrilamine
Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Pyrilamine brand name: Tanamine.
Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Pyrilamine falls into 2 drug categories that Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) can interact with; the most serious is rated moderate. Theoretically, BMPEA might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.

These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) interacts with whole categories of medication. Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Pyrilamine falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Pyrilamine
Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Pyrilamine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) interacts with.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA inhibits CYP3A4 by up to 37%.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with this combo. Your Tanamine product contains phenylephrine, which is itself a decongestant stimulant that narrows blood vessels and can nudge up your blood pressure and heart rate. BMPEA is an amphetamine-like stimulant. Stacking two stimulants together is really the bigger concern here, since you could feel jittery, get a racing or pounding heartbeat, or see your blood pressure climb.
On top of that, lab studies suggest BMPEA may modestly block CYP3A4, an enzyme that helps clear part of this product. In theory that could let levels build up a bit, adding to side effects like drowsiness, dry mouth, or feeling wired. This is theoretical and based only on test-tube data, but since BMPEA isn't well studied or clearly labeled, I'd talk with your pharmacist before combining them.

STIMULANT DRUGS
2 of 2Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Pyrilamine also falls under STIMULANT DRUGS.
BMPEA is thought to have stimulant effects, including cardiovascular effects such as hypertension, tachycardia, and cardiac arrest.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to know about your Tanamine combo: one of its ingredients, phenylephrine, is a decongestant that works by tightening blood vessels. On its own it can nudge up your blood pressure and heart rate. BMPEA is an amphetamine-like stimulant, so stacking the two could push those numbers higher together. That's why this pairing carries a moderate, theoretical caution.
What might that feel like? A racing or pounding heart, jitteriness, headache, or a higher blood pressure reading. Keep in mind this concern is based on how these compounds work, not hard human studies. BMPEA itself is an unapproved supplement that regulators warn against, so I'd steer clear of it. Please check with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What These Ratings Mean
Every interaction above is graded three ways — here’s the key to each label.
Clinically significant. Avoid the combination, or use only under close professional supervision.
Usually worth avoiding or managing — may need monitoring, a dose change, or timing apart.
Generally not serious. Be aware of it and mention it to your pharmacist.
- LikelyWell-controlled human studies have demonstrated the likely existence of this interaction.
- ProbableInteraction has not been documented in well-controlled studies, however, the interaction has been demonstrated in some small human studies or in controlled animal studies in conjunction with multiple case reports.
- PossibleInteraction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
- UnlikelyInteraction has been demonstrated in animal or in lab research but has been shown not to occur in humans.
- AHigh-quality meta-analysis (quantitative systematic review).
- BCase-control study.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, Pyrilamine page
“Tanamine pairs two antihistamines, chlorpheniramine and pyrilamine, with phenylephrine, a decongestant that raises blood pressure and heart rate, and that mix is exactly why I treat its supplement list as high-stakes. Ten of the 229 ingredients on file rate major, and they belong at the top of your reading.”

About Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea)
What is Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea)?
- Weight loss
- Pre-workout energy
- Athletic performance
- Appetite suppression
- Mental focus
Beta-methylphenethylamine (BMPEA) is a synthetic stimulant chemically similar to amphetamine that has been found in some weight-loss and sports supplements, often without being clearly listed on the label. It is not an approved or well-studied dietary ingredient, and regulators have warned that it may carry real cardiovascular risks. Because of safety concerns and the lack of human research, it is best avoided.
