Drug & supplement interaction

Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) + Cyproheptadine

Cyproheptadine brand name: Periactin.

No Known Interaction
The bottom line No known interaction

We found no known interaction between Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) and Cyproheptadine in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.

Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) and Cyproheptadine

We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.

No Known Interaction Found

We did not find a documented interaction between Cyproheptadine and Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.

If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

How we checked

Why No Interaction Is Listed for Cyproheptadine

Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Cyproheptadine is filed under 4 classifications — including anticholinergic drugs, photosensitizing drugs, seizure threshold lowering drugs. Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) has documented interactions with 3 drug classes — the most serious being cytochrome p450 2d6 (cyp2d6) substrates (moderate), cytochrome p450 3a4 (cyp3a4) substrates (moderate) and stimulant drugs (moderate) — and none of Cyproheptadine’s classifications are among them.

Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.

What to actually watch for

No Interaction Found — But Data Suggests Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) and Cyproheptadine May Share a Side Effect

This is not an interaction. Neither one changes how your body handles the other, and nothing here says they react together. What our sources do show is that each has separately been linked to the effects below — so taking both can make those effects more likely to turn up, and harder to pin on one or the other if they do.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Cyproheptadine page

“Cyproheptadine (Periactin) is an older antihistamine that dries you out and slows you down on its own, which is exactly why its supplement list warrants genuine care rather than a quick skim. Of the 72 ingredients on file, three carry a major rating.”

About Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea)

What is Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea)?

  • Weight loss
  • Pre-workout energy
  • Athletic performance
  • Appetite suppression
  • Mental focus

Beta-methylphenethylamine (BMPEA) is a synthetic stimulant chemically similar to amphetamine that has been found in some weight-loss and sports supplements, often without being clearly listed on the label. It is not an approved or well-studied dietary ingredient, and regulators have warned that it may carry real cardiovascular risks. Because of safety concerns and the lack of human research, it is best avoided.

Synthetic chemical; also reported as a constituent of some Acacia species · Capsules, tablets, and powders sold as pre-workout, weight-loss, or 'energy' supplements

An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) record says about it on its own.

Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea): dosing

There is no established or recommended dose for BMPEA, and no safe dose has been determined through research. It is not an approved ingredient, so any amount in a supplement is unregulated and may not match what the label says.We do not recommend taking BMPEA.

About Cyproheptadine

What Is Cyproheptadine Used For?

Brand name: Periactin

Cyproheptadine treats a range of allergic conditions, including perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis (year-round or seasonal nasal allergies), vasomotor rhinitis (non-allergic nasal symptoms), and allergic conjunctivitis (itchy, watery eyes caused by allergens or foods). It also helps with allergic skin reactions such as urticaria (hives) and angioedema (skin swelling).

Additional uses include cold urticaria (hives triggered by cold), dermatographism (skin that hives when scratched), and helping to calm allergic reactions to blood or plasma transfusions. It is also used as a supportive therapy alongside epinephrine after a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) has been initially controlled.
