Here's the idea behind this pairing. Your lung cancer medicine Tagrisso (osimertinib) is cleared from your body mainly by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab dishes, BMPEA appears to slow that enzyme down by a little over a third. If the same thing happened in a person, osimertinib could clear out more slowly and build up to higher levels, which may make side effects more likely. With this drug that can mean things like diarrhea, mouth sores, rash, dry skin, fatigue, or, less often, heart rhythm changes (a longer QT interval).

I want to be honest though: this is theoretical, based only on test-tube data, not on real patients. The bigger concern is BMPEA itself, an unapproved amphetamine-like stimulant that can raise heart rate and blood pressure. I'd steer clear of it and check with your oncologist or pharmacist first.

What Is Osimertinib Used For?

Brand name: Tagrisso

Tagrisso is used to treat adults with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) whose tumors have specific EGFR mutations — either an exon 19 deletion or an exon 21 L858R mutation — confirmed by an FDA-approved test. It is used in several settings: after surgery to reduce the risk of cancer returning (adjuvant therapy), for locally advanced stage III NSCLC that has not progressed after chemoradiation, and as a first-line treatment for locally advanced or metastatic NSCLC (including in combination with pemetrexed and platinum-based chemotherapy).

Tagrisso is also approved for adults with metastatic NSCLC that carries a specific resistance mutation called T790M, when the cancer has stopped responding to another EGFR-targeted therapy.
