Trazodone HCl falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Beta-methylphenethylamine (bmpea) interacts with.

Theoretically, BMPEA might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP2D6 substrates.
In vitro research shows that BMPEA strongly inhibits CYP2D6.

Here's the basic idea with these two together. Your body uses a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to help clear trazodone. In lab testing, BMPEA appears to block that enzyme. If it does the same thing in people, trazodone could build up higher than expected, since trazodone is an active medication (not a prodrug that needs switching on).

Practically, more trazodone in your system could mean stronger drowsiness, dizziness, low blood pressure when you stand up, or grogginess. And remember, BMPEA itself is a stimulant that can push up heart rate and blood pressure, which is an odd mix with a sedating drug. I'd avoid BMPEA-containing supplements and check with your pharmacist or doctor first. Keep in mind this concern is theoretical and based on lab data, not human studies.

Here's the gist for trazodone. Your liver uses an enzyme called CYP3A4 to break it down. Lab studies suggest BMPEA can partly block that enzyme (by about a third in a test tube), which could let trazodone build up a bit higher than usual. If that happens, you might feel more of trazodone's typical effects: extra drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, or feeling lightheaded when you stand up.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. It's theoretical, based on lab data, not real patients. The bigger worry is BMPEA itself. It's a stimulant similar to amphetamine that can raise heart rate and blood pressure, which doesn't mix well with a sedating drug. I'd skip BMPEA and check with your doctor or pharmacist first.
