Umbralisib Tosylate falls under ORAL DRUGS — the group Blond Psyllium interacts with.

Theoretically, psyllium might increase, decrease, or have no effect on the absorption of oral drugs.
Psyllium seems to have variable effects on drug absorption. To avoid changes in absorption, take psyllium 30-60 minutes after oral medications. Animal research shows that blond psyllium delays and increases the absorption of metformin and ethinyl estradiol. Conversely, case reports and animal research suggest that blond psyllium might reduce absorption of lithium, digoxin, olanzapine, and carbamazepine. Finally, some pharmacokinetic studies show that psyllium does not affect the absorption of levothyroxine or warfarin.

Here's the simple version: psyllium forms a thick gel in your gut, and that gel can sometimes grab onto pills as they pass through. Depending on the drug, that may slow down, lower, or have no real effect on how much gets absorbed. With umbralisib (Ukoniq), this hasn't been specifically studied, so what we have is mostly a theoretical concern based on how fiber behaves with other oral medicines.

Since umbralisib is a cancer treatment, you don't want anything quietly trimming how much your body takes in. An easy fix is timing: take your umbralisib first, then wait 30 to 60 minutes before your psyllium. That usually keeps them out of each other's way. Please run this by your oncology pharmacist or doctor before changing anything.

Blond psyllium is a soluble fiber from the seed husks of Plantago ovata, and it is one of the better-studied fiber supplements. It can help with both constipation and diarrhea and may modestly lower cholesterol and blood sugar. About Umbralisib

What Is Umbralisib Used For?

Brand name: Ukoniq

  • Umbralisib is used to treat marginal zone lymphoma (MZL; a slow growing cancer that begins in a type of white blood cells that normally fight infection) in adults whose cancer has returned or did not respond to a certain type of medication. It is also used to treat follicular lymphoma (FL; a type of cancer that begins in the white blood cells) in adults whose cancer has returned or did not respond to at least three other medications. Umbralisib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop the spread of cancer cells.
