Some etanercept Products Have a Food Rule — Blond Psyllium Should Not Break It

At least one FDA label for a product containing etanercept says to take it on an empty stomach. Most supplements — Blond Psyllium included — are taken with a meal, so the easy mistake is swallowing both together at breakfast. Where that rule applies, keep etanercept on its own and move Blond Psyllium to a meal later in the day.

This may not be true of your version. Food instructions belong to the product, not the ingredient: two etanercept products can carry different directions, and extended-release forms often differ from immediate-release ones. What Is Etanercept Injection Used For?

Brand name: Enbrel

Enbrel (etanercept) injection is approved to treat several inflammatory conditions. In adults, it is used for moderately to severely active rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and chronic moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis.

In children, Enbrel is approved for polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis and juvenile psoriatic arthritis in patients 2 years and older, and for chronic moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis in patients 4 years and older.
