Here's the gist for atomoxetine (Strattera). Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear this medication out. In lab studies, boswellia appears to slow that same enzyme down. If it does the same thing in real life, atomoxetine could build up a bit more than usual, which may nudge up side effects like a faster heartbeat, higher blood pressure, dry mouth, trouble sleeping, decreased appetite, or feeling jittery.

I want to be honest about the strength of this concern: it's theoretical, based only on test-tube data, not on people taking both together. So it may never amount to much. Still, since atomoxetine is dosed carefully, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining them.

What Is Atomoxetine Used For?

Brand name: Strattera

Atomoxetine — available as capsules (Atomoxetine, Atomoxetine Hydrochloride, Strattera) and as an oral solution (Atomoxetine Hydrochloride, Atoncy) — is approved for the treatment of ADHD in adults and pediatric patients 6 years of age and older. It is meant to be part of a total treatment program that may also include psychological, educational, and social supports.

ADHD is diagnosed when persistent symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity cause meaningful problems in daily life — at school, at work, or at home — in more than one setting. Atomoxetine is not approved to treat major depressive disorder.
