Atomoxetine falls under CYTOCHROME P450 2D6 (CYP2D6) SUBSTRATES — the group Ayahuasca interacts with.

Theoretically, ayahuasca might increase plasma concentrations of CYP2D6 substrates.
Ayahuasca contains beta-carboline alkaloids, including harmine and harmaline. In vitro research suggests that the beta-carboline alkaloids might inhibit CYP2D6 enzymes. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist for Strattera (atomoxetine). Your body relies heavily on an enzyme called CYP2D6 to clear this medicine out. The beta-carboline compounds in ayahuasca (harmine and harmaline) appear to block that same enzyme, at least in lab studies. If that blocking happens in people, atomoxetine could pile up in your bloodstream rather than being broken down at a normal pace.

More atomoxetine sticking around can mean stronger side effects: a faster or pounding heartbeat, higher blood pressure, trouble sleeping, dry mouth, appetite loss, or feeling jittery. I want to be honest though, this is only seen in test-tube research so far, not in real patients. On top of that, ayahuasca's MAOI activity raises serious safety concerns with this drug. Please run this by your doctor or pharmacist before mixing them.
