Broccoli + Felbamate
Felbamate brand name: Felbatol.
We found no known interaction between Broccoli and Felbamate in our sources. Absence of a documented interaction is not the same as proven safety, and does not guarantee one does not exist. Do not start, stop, or change a medication or supplement based on this page; confirm with your pharmacist or doctor first. Additionally, although there is no interaction, the two are separately associated with some of the same side effects, which would make a new symptom harder to attribute to one or the other.
Broccoli and Felbamate
We checked these two against our interaction database. Here is what we found.
No Known Interaction Found
We did not find a documented interaction between Felbamate and Broccoli in our sources. This does not guarantee that the combination is completely free of risk — there is often limited research on supplements and herbal products, especially around drug interactions.
If you decide to take both, the practical routine is simple: add one new thing at a time and note the date you started it. If the combination is going to disagree with you, it usually shows in the first days to a couple of weeks — and a start date turns “I’ve been feeling off” into something a pharmacist can actually work with. Do not stop a prescribed medicine on your own.
Always talk with your pharmacist or doctor before making changes to your medications or supplements, particularly if you take several medications or have an ongoing health condition.

Pregnancy & breastfeeding ratings are from Natural Medicines (Therapeutic Research Center) — the full detail is in the Special populations card below. Safety guidance is general; always confirm with your pharmacist or doctor for your situation.
Why No Interaction Is Listed for Felbamate
Interactions in our licensed database are recorded against drug classes, not just single drug names. Felbamate is filed under 8 classifications — including anticonvulsants, cytochrome p450 2c19 (cyp2c19) inhibitors, qt interval-prolonging drugs. Broccoli has documented interactions with 2 drug classes — the most serious being cytochrome p450 1a2 (cyp1a2) substrates (moderate) and cytochrome p450 2a6 (cyp2a6) substrates (moderate) — and none of Felbamate’s classifications are among them.
Classification data comes from our licensed Natural Medicines dataset. A medication can belong to classes beyond those recorded there, so this describes how the check was run — it is not a safety guarantee.
Broccoli Does Interact With Other Medications
Broccoli has 187 moderate known drug interactions in our database — Felbamate isn’t one of them. If you take anything else, check it against the full list below.

By severity: 14 major · 141 moderate · 17 minor.
From our pharmacist’s overview on the Felbamate page
“Felbamate (Felbatol) is a seizure medicine usually reserved for epilepsy that other drugs have failed to control, in part because it can stress the liver on its own. That history is why its 172 supplement and herbal interactions deserve real vigilance, starting with the 14 rated major.”

About Broccoli
What is Broccoli?
- General nutrition and antioxidant support
- Heart and digestive health
- Detoxification support
- Cancer risk reduction (popular interest)
- Blood sugar support
Broccoli is a nutritious cruciferous vegetable rich in fiber, vitamins, and plant compounds like sulforaphane that have drawn scientific interest for health benefits. Eating broccoli as food is safe and healthy for most people, but concentrated supplements and extracts are less studied and benefits are not firmly proven. Talk to your pharmacist or doctor before using broccoli supplements, especially in high doses.
Brassica oleracea var. italica · Brassicaceae · Florets, sprouts, seeds, and stalks · Whole vegetable (fresh, frozen, cooked), broccoli sprouts, powders, capsules, and sulforaphane or glucoraphanin extracts
An interaction check asks whether these two react with each other — it does not ask whether Broccoli is a good idea for someone in your situation. Here is what our Broccoli record says about it on its own.
Broccoli: dosing
There is no official or standardized supplement dose for broccoli. As a food, broccoli can simply be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet. For broccoli sprout and sulforaphane products, the amount of active compound varies a lot between brands, and a proven effective dose has not been established.

About Felbamate
What Is Felbamate Used For?
Brand name: Felbatol
Felbamate is not a first-line seizure medication. It is used only when a person's epilepsy has not responded well enough to other treatments and the seizures are severe enough that the serious risks of this drug are considered acceptable.
In adults, felbamate can be used alone or alongside other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to treat partial seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain), with or without spreading to become a full seizure. In children, felbamate is used as an add-on treatment for both partial and generalized seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Felbatol is specifically labeled for these uses in both adults and children.

Felbamate Is Linked to Lower Levels of One Nutrient
Natural Medicines records Felbamate as a medicine that can lower these. This is not an interaction with Broccoli — it is a separate effect of the medicine, and it is a reason some people are advised to supplement rather than to avoid one:
