Bosutinib falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bulbine Natalensis interacts with.

Theoretically, Bulbine natalensis stem might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Bulbine natalensis stem extract induces CYP3A4 mRNA expression and enzyme activity. Theoretically, this may increase the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates, but this has not been studied in humans.

Here's the concern with pairing Bulbine natalensis and Bosutinib (Bosulif). Your body clears bosutinib using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest this plant may rev that enzyme up (induce it), which could speed how fast your body breaks down bosutinib. Bosutinib is an active drug, not a prodrug, so faster clearance means lower levels and possibly less control of your leukemia, which is a serious tradeoff in cancer treatment.

I'll be honest: this is theoretical, based only on lab work, not human studies. But because bosutinib is a chemotherapy drug where keeping the right level really matters, I'd play it safe. Please loop in your oncologist or pharmacist before adding this supplement.

About Bosutinib

What Is Bosutinib Used For?

Brand name: Bosulif

Bosutinib is used to treat Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myelogenous leukemia (Ph+ CML) — a type of blood cancer. It can be used for newly diagnosed patients or for those whose cancer has stopped responding to, or who cannot tolerate, a prior treatment.

Bosulif (the brand-name product) is approved for adults and children 1 year and older with chronic phase Ph+ CML, and for adults with accelerated phase or blast phase Ph+ CML that is resistant or intolerant to prior therapy. Generic bosutinib tablets are approved for adults only with the same range of disease phases.
