Here's the simple version. Fondaparinux (Arixtra) is a blood thinner you get as an injection, usually around surgery, to stop dangerous clots from forming. It already lowers your blood's ability to clot. In a lab dish, Bulbine natalensis leaf extract slowed down platelets, the tiny cells that help plug up bleeding. So in theory, stacking the two could add up and nudge your bleeding risk higher.

I want to be honest about how soft this evidence is. This is a theoretical concern based on test-tube work, not real cases in people. Still, with a true anticoagulant like fondaparinux, I'd play it safe. Watch for easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or cuts that won't quit, and please run any supplement past your doctor or pharmacist first.

What Is Fondaparinux Injection Used For?

Brand name: Arixtra

Fondaparinux sodium injection is used to prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) — blood clots in the legs — in adults having hip fracture surgery, hip replacement surgery, knee replacement surgery, or abdominal surgery. For hip fracture patients, an extended course of prevention is also recommended after the initial treatment period.

It is also used to treat acute DVT and acute pulmonary embolism (PE — a blood clot in the lungs) in adults, given alongside warfarin. In children aged 1 year and older who weigh at least 10 kg, fondaparinux sodium injection is approved to treat venous thromboembolism (VTE — blood clots in the veins).
