Mobocertinib Succinate falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Bulbine Natalensis interacts with.

Theoretically, Bulbine natalensis stem might reduce the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that Bulbine natalensis stem extract induces CYP3A4 mRNA expression and enzyme activity. Theoretically, this may increase the metabolism of CYP3A4 substrates, but this has not been studied in humans.

Here's the concern with pairing Bulbine natalensis with your lung cancer medication, mobocertinib (Exkivity). Your body clears mobocertinib using a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. In lab studies, Bulbine appears to rev up this enzyme, which could make your body break down mobocertinib faster than intended. Lower drug levels can mean the medicine works less well against your cancer, which is the opposite of what you want.

I'll be honest: this is theoretical, based only on lab and animal data, not human studies. But with a serious cancer drug, I wouldn't gamble. This particular supplement also raises liver and kidney concerns. Please run it by your oncologist or pharmacist before taking anything new.

What Is Mobocertinib Used For?

  • Mobocertinib is used to treat a certain type of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that cannot be removed by surgery and has spread to other parts of the body either during or after treatment with platinum chemotherapy medications. Mobocertinib is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of the abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps stop or slow the spread of cancer cells and may help shrink tumors.
