Here's the honest picture with Spinraza (nusinersen). The concern on file is that Bulbine natalensis may, in theory, make blood a little slower to clot. That comes only from lab dish studies showing it can block platelets from sticking together, not from research in people.

Why this matters for Spinraza: this medicine is given by a needle into the fluid around your spinal cord (a lumbar puncture). Anything that affects clotting could in theory raise the chance of bruising or bleeding around that injection site. Spinraza itself isn't a blood thinner and isn't a prodrug, so this is really about the procedure, not how the drug works. Since the evidence is only theoretical, please just mention this supplement to your care team before any dose.

Brand name: Spinraza

Spinraza (nusinersen) is used to treat spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) — a genetic disease that causes progressive muscle weakness by reducing the body's ability to make a protein called SMN (survival motor neuron). Spinraza is approved for pediatric and adult patients with SMA.

Spinraza is given by intrathecal injection — directly into the fluid surrounding the spinal cord — so the medicine can reach the central nervous system where it's needed most.
