Canagliflozin, Metformin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Bupleurum interacts with.

Theoretically, bupleurum might decrease the effects of antidiabetes drugs.
Animal research suggests that saikosaponins, constituents of bupleurum, can increase blood glucose.

Invokamet combines two diabetes medicines: canagliflozin, which helps your kidneys flush out extra sugar, and metformin, which lowers how much sugar your liver makes. Both work to bring your blood sugar down. The concern here is that bupleurum might gently push in the opposite direction.

In animal studies, saikosaponins (the active compounds in bupleurum) seemed to raise blood sugar. So in theory, adding bupleurum could blunt some of the glucose-lowering benefit of your Invokamet, meaning higher readings than you expect. I want to be clear though: this is only a theoretical concern based on lab and animal work, not proven in people. Still, if you choose to use bupleurum, check your blood sugar a bit more closely and let your pharmacist or doctor know.
