Here's the interesting twist with this pairing. Glucagon is your rescue medicine for very low blood sugar (Baqsimi nasal powder or the injection), and it works by telling your liver to dump stored sugar back into your bloodstream. Bupleurum, in animal studies, may also raise blood sugar a little. So in this one situation, both are actually pushing in the same direction, which is generally what you want during a low.

This is the rare case where the supplement isn't fighting the drug. The bigger concern is that bupleurum may quietly nudge your everyday blood sugar up, which can make your regular diabetes medicines (like insulin or metformin) work less well. Keep in mind this is theoretical, from lab and animal data only. Please run it by your pharmacist or doctor before adding bupleurum.
