Theoretically, bupleurum might increase the risk of bleeding when taken with anticoagulant or antiplatelet drugs.
In vitro research suggests that saikosaponins, constituents of bupleurum, can inhibit platelet aggregation.

Here's the gist: Piroxicam is an anti-inflammatory pain reliever, and like other NSAIDs it can make your blood a little slower to clot. Bupleurum may add to that effect. Lab studies suggest its saikosaponin compounds can keep platelets from clumping together, which is part of how your body forms clots. Stack that on top of Piroxicam, and in theory you could bruise or bleed a bit more easily.

I want to be honest about the evidence, though. This concern is theoretical, drawn from test-tube research rather than real people. Still, since Piroxicam already carries its own bleeding and stomach-irritation risks, it's worth a quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two, especially if you notice unusual bruising, dark stools, or stomach upset.
