Tolbutamide (Mobenol) is an older sulfonylurea that lowers your blood sugar by nudging your pancreas to release more insulin. The idea here is pretty simple: cabbage may have its own mild blood-sugar-lowering effect, so piling on large or concentrated amounts could add to what your medication is already doing and push your sugar a little too low.

I want to be honest that this is theoretical, based mostly on animal and lab research, not real-world reports in people. A normal serving of cabbage at dinner is very unlikely to cause trouble. The bigger question is large amounts or cabbage-based supplements. If you go that route, just watch for signs of low sugar like shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion, and check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.
