Here's the gist with carob and your prednisolone. The concern isn't about how your body breaks down the steroid. Instead, carob is packed with tannins and fiber, and the worry is that these could grab onto a medication in your gut and make it a little harder to absorb. If less prednisolone gets into your bloodstream, the medicine might not work quite as well for whatever you're treating, whether that's inflammation, an allergic flare, or arthritis pain.

Honestly, this is a very mild and mostly theoretical concern, based on lab and animal research rather than real patients. To stay on the safe side, it's reasonable to take your prednisolone first and enjoy carob 30 to 60 minutes later. If you have questions, your pharmacist can help you space things out.

Carob is a Mediterranean tree whose pods are widely used as a caffeine-free, naturally sweet cocoa alternative and as a thickener (carob gum). It is mostly eaten as a food and is generally well tolerated, and carob pod preparations have some traditional and limited research use for diarrhea, but evidence for most medicinal claims is limited. Prednisolone is prescribed for many different conditions where inflammation or an overactive immune system is causing harm. These range from severe allergic reactions and asthma to certain skin diseases, blood disorders, eye problems, and some cancers.

It is also used to support the body when the adrenal glands aren't making enough of their own steroids, and to manage flares of conditions like ulcerative colitis, multiple sclerosis, and nephrotic syndrome (a kidney condition causing protein loss in the urine).
