Hexobarbital is a barbiturate, which is a strong sleep-and-sedation medicine that already slows down your central nervous system. Catnip, the same calming herb cats love, seems to have mild sedative effects of its own. So the worry here is simple: stacking the two could add up. You might feel groggier, dizzier, or more drowsy than expected, with slower breathing or trouble staying alert.

Honestly, this concern is mostly theoretical and based on weak, anecdotal evidence plus some animal studies, not strong human research. Catnip is not flipping any switch on how your body activates or clears this drug. A cup of catnip tea may matter little, but concentrated supplements are harder to predict. Just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first, especially with a medicine this potent.
