Ceylon Cinnamon + Trandolapril
Trandolapril brand name: Mavik.
Ceylon Cinnamon has a moderate interaction with Trandolapril. Theoretically, Ceylon cinnamon might have additive effects with antihypertensive drugs and increase the risk of hypotension.

ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS
Why this applies to Trandolapril
Trandolapril falls under ANTIHYPERTENSIVE DRUGS — the group Ceylon Cinnamon interacts with.
Animal research shows that Ceylon cinnamon extract has vasorelaxant properties and reduces blood pressure in rat models of hypertension, possibly via inhibition of calcium influx through L-type voltage-sensitive channels.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the gist: trandolapril (Mavik) already works to bring your blood pressure down. Some animal studies hint that concentrated Ceylon cinnamon may relax blood vessels and gently lower blood pressure too. So if you stacked a cinnamon supplement on top of trandolapril, the two could add up and push your numbers a little lower than expected.
If that happened, you might feel lightheaded, dizzy, tired, or woozy when you stand up. I want to be honest, though: this is mostly theory from lab and rat research, not from people, so it's far from certain. The sprinkle of cinnamon on your oatmeal won't do this. Concentrated capsules are the real question. Before starting one, just check in with your pharmacist or doctor.

“Trandolapril (Mavik) treats high blood pressure, and I'd want anyone taking it to read this list of 149 supplements and herbs carefully, with the six major entries first (another 119 are rated moderate and 24 minor). Most of what's here either adds to trandolapril's pressure-lowering effect and can drop you too far, or pushes back agai…”

About Ceylon Cinnamon
What is Ceylon Cinnamon?
- Blood sugar support
- High cholesterol
- Indigestion and gas
- Antimicrobial
- General flavoring and culinary use
Ceylon cinnamon is the so-called 'true' cinnamon, valued as a spice and used in traditional medicine for blood sugar, cholesterol, and digestion. Evidence for most health benefits is limited and mixed, but as a food it is generally safe and contains far less coumarin than common cassia cinnamon. Talk with your pharmacist or doctor before taking concentrated supplements, especially if you have a health condition or take medications.
About Trandolapril
What Is Trandolapril Used For?
Brand name: Mavik
Trandolapril tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). They can be used on their own or combined with other blood pressure medicines such as hydrochlorothiazide.
Trandolapril tablets are also used in stable patients who have reduced heart pumping function (left-ventricular systolic dysfunction) or heart failure that developed within the first few days after a heart attack. In Caucasian patients, trandolapril has been shown to lower the risk of cardiovascular death and reduce hospitalizations related to heart failure.
