Empagliflozin falls under ANTIDIABETES DRUGS — the group Cod Liver Oil interacts with.

Theoretically, taking cod liver oil with antidiabetes drugs might increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Some clinical research shows that cod liver oil may lower blood glucose levels in women with gestational diabetes who are already taking antidiabetes drugs when used for at least 12 weeks. However, it does not appear to have any effect on blood glucose when used for shorter durations. Until more is known, use caution.

Here's the short version: cod liver oil and Jardiance (empagliflozin) both work to lower blood sugar, so combining them could in theory push your numbers a little lower than expected. The signal here is modest. In one study of women with gestational diabetes, cod liver oil taken for at least 12 weeks nudged blood sugar down, while shorter use didn't seem to do much. For most people this is more of a heads-up than a red flag.

Empagliflozin by itself rarely causes low blood sugar, but the risk goes up if you also take insulin or a sulfonylurea. Watch for shakiness, sweating, dizziness, or confusion, and keep an eye on your glucose readings if you start a daily supplement dose. A quick chat with your pharmacist or doctor before adding it is the safest move.

What Is Empagliflozin Used For?

Brand name: Jardiance

Jardiance (empagliflozin) tablets are approved for several important uses in adults. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular death and hospitalization in adults with heart failure. It also slows the progression of chronic kidney disease by reducing the risk of serious kidney decline, end-stage kidney disease, cardiovascular death, and hospitalization. In adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, Jardiance reduces the risk of cardiovascular death.

Jardiance is also used — alongside diet and exercise — to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes in adults and children aged 10 and older. It is not recommended for blood sugar control in type 1 diabetes (it may raise the risk of a dangerous condition called diabetic ketoacidosis) or in type 2 diabetes patients with severely reduced kidney function.
