Here's the simple version: cod liver oil, thanks to its omega-3 fats, can nudge your blood pressure down a little on its own. Timolol is a beta blocker that already lowers blood pressure and slows your heart rate. Put them together and the effects can stack up, so your pressure could dip more than expected.

What might that feel like? Things like dizziness, lightheadedness when you stand up, unusual tiredness, or a slow heartbeat. This is rated moderate and comes from lower-quality studies, so for most people the everyday risk is small, especially at typical doses. Still, if you take Timolol and want to add cod liver oil, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first, and keep an eye on your blood pressure as you start.

What Is Timolol Used For?

Brand names: Blocadren, Timol, Timoptic

Timolol is available in ophthalmic (eye) forms and as an oral tablet, and each form has its own approved uses. Ophthalmic formulations — including Betimol, Istalol, Timolol GFS, Timolol hemihydrate, Timolol Maleate eye drops, and Timolol Maleate Ophthalmic Gel Forming Solution — are used to lower elevated intraocular pressure (pressure inside the eye) in people with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma.

Timolol Maleate tablets are used orally for three separate conditions: treating high blood pressure (alone or combined with other blood pressure medicines), reducing the risk of death and repeat heart attack in people who have survived a heart attack and are clinically stable, and preventing migraine headaches.
