Here's the gist: codeine is a pain reliever that can also make you feel drowsy and slow your breathing. The concern with coriander is simply additive sleepiness. The idea is that if coriander has its own mild calming effect, stacking it on top of codeine could leave you more tired, foggy, or lightheaded than codeine alone.

That said, I want to be honest about the evidence. This comes only from animal studies using concentrated coriander extract, not from people, so it's theoretical. The cilantro in your tacos or curry is very unlikely to do anything. Concentrated coriander oils or capsules are where I'd be more cautious. If you take codeine and want to use coriander supplements, just run it by your pharmacist or doctor first.
