Teczem combines two blood pressure lowering medicines: diltiazem (a calcium channel blocker) and enalapril (an ACE inhibitor). Neither one is a prodrug that coriander needs to activate, so the concern here is simpler. Coriander may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own, so stacking it on top of your medication could, in theory, push your numbers down a little too far.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or woozy when you stand up. I want to be honest though: this caution comes only from animal studies, not human trials, and normal cooking amounts of cilantro are very unlikely to matter. Concentrated extracts or essential oils are a different story. If you use those, just check with your pharmacist or doctor first.

Here's the thing to know about pairing coriander with your diltiazem/enalapril combo pill (Teczem): this isn't about your blood pressure numbers or how the medicine works inside you. Both of these drugs can occasionally make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, and coriander may add a little to that effect. So the concern is purely about sunburn, not about the drug building up or weakening.

I want to be honest about how thin this evidence is. It comes from lab studies on a single coriander compound, not from real patients, so it's mostly theoretical. Cooking with cilantro almost certainly won't matter. If you use concentrated coriander oils or extracts and spend lots of time outdoors, just use sunscreen and check with your pharmacist.
