Minizide combines two blood pressure medicines: polythiazide (a water pill) and prazosin (an alpha-blocker that relaxes blood vessels). Both already work to lower your blood pressure. The thinking here is that coriander, based mostly on animal studies, may gently nudge blood pressure down too. Stacked together, the worry is that your pressure could dip a little too low.

If that happened, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, especially when standing up quickly (prazosin is well known for this "first-dose" drop). Keep in mind this is theoretical and not proven in people, and normal cooking amounts of cilantro in your food are very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated extracts or essential oils are the bigger question. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before using those.

Here's the situation with Minizide (which combines polythiazide, a water pill, with prazosin for blood pressure). The thiazide part can already make your skin a little more sensitive to sunlight for some folks. Coriander contains a compound called coriandrin that, in lab dish studies, showed a similar sun-sensitizing effect. So in theory, pairing the two could make you burn more easily.

The good news: this is based only on early test-tube research and scattered reports, so it's a weak, mostly theoretical concern. Eating cilantro in your food is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated coriander extracts or essential oils are where I'd be a bit more cautious. Either way, simple sunscreen and a hat go a long way. Run any supplement plans by your pharmacist first.
