Here's the simple version: torsemide is a water pill that lowers blood pressure by helping your body shed extra salt and fluid. Coriander, in concentrated form, may also nudge your blood pressure down a bit. Put the two together and the effects could stack, so your pressure might dip lower than expected.

If that happens, you could feel lightheaded, dizzy, weak, or wobbly when you stand up quickly. Keep in mind this caution comes only from animal studies, not human trials, so it's more theoretical than proven. The cilantro you sprinkle on tacos or in salsa is very unlikely to cause trouble. Concentrated coriander extracts or essential oils are where I'd be more careful. If you want to use those, check in with your pharmacist or doctor first.

What Is Torsemide Used For?

Brand names: Demadex, Soaanz

Torsemide tablets are used to treat edema — excess fluid buildup causing swelling — associated with heart failure, renal disease, or hepatic disease. Removing that extra fluid can relieve swelling and make breathing easier.

Torsemide tablets are also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events, including strokes and heart attacks. It can be used alone or alongside other blood pressure medications.
