Aripiprazole falls under SEIZURE THRESHOLD LOWERING DRUGS — the group Dendrobium interacts with.

The dendrobium constituent dendrobine is reported to have convulsant effects. Theoretically, combining dendrobium with pro-convulsant drugs might increase the risk of seizure. Some drugs that lower the seizure threshold include anesthetics (propofol, others), antiarrhythmics (mexiletine), antibiotics (amphotericin, penicillin, cephalosporins, imipenem), antidepressants (bupropion, others), antihistamines (cyproheptadine, others), immunosuppressants (cyclosporine), narcotics (fentanyl, others), stimulants (methylphenidate), theophylline, and others.

Here's the basic idea with Dendrobium and aripiprazole (Abilify). One compound in Dendrobium, called dendrobine, has been reported to act as a convulsant, meaning in theory it could make seizures a little easier to trigger. Aripiprazole is one of many medicines that can slightly lower the seizure threshold on its own, so the worry is that stacking the two together might nudge that risk up a bit.

I want to be honest about how soft this is. This is a theoretical concern based on how these compounds behave in lab settings, not on real reports of people having seizures from the combo. For most folks the risk is low, but if you have a seizure history or take other medicines, please check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding Dendrobium.
