Atorvastatin Calcium falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Evodia interacts with.

Theoretically, evodia might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that evodia extract inhibits hepatic CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear atorvastatin (Lipitor). In lab dishes, evodia appears to slow that enzyme down. If the same thing happened in people, atorvastatin could build up in your blood and act a bit stronger than intended. With statins, the main worry from higher levels is muscle aches or weakness, and rarely a more serious muscle problem. Liver irritation is also possible.

Here's the honest part: this is only seen in test-tube research, not in actual patients, so it's theoretical. Atorvastatin is not a prodrug, so more drug means more effect, not less. I wouldn't panic, but do mention any new muscle soreness or dark urine to your pharmacist or doctor before combining these.

About Atorvastatin

What Is Atorvastatin Used For?

Brand name: Lipitor

Atorvastatin is used alongside a healthy diet to lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol, triglycerides (blood fats), and other harmful lipids, while raising HDL ("good") cholesterol. It treats primary hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), mixed dyslipidemia (mixed abnormal blood fats), hypertriglyceridemia (high triglycerides), and inherited conditions such as heterozygous and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia — including in children aged 10 and older.

Beyond cholesterol control, atorvastatin is used to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, revascularization procedures, and angina (chest pain) in adults with coronary heart disease or multiple risk factors for it — including adults with type 2 diabetes who have risk factors for heart disease even without a confirmed heart disease diagnosis.
