Cariprazine Hydrochloride falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Evodia interacts with.

Theoretically, evodia might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that evodia extract inhibits hepatic CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the gist: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear cariprazine (Vraylar) out of your system. In lab studies, evodia appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that held true in people, cariprazine could build up and hang around longer, which might mean stronger drug effects and more side effects like drowsiness, restlessness, dizziness, trembling, or trouble with movement.

The important caveat: this is based only on test-tube research, not on real patients, so we honestly don't know how much it matters in everyday life. Cariprazine is a long-acting drug already, so I'd lean cautious. Before adding evodia, please check with your pharmacist or doctor rather than guessing on your own.

What Is Cariprazine Used For?

Brand name: Vraylar

Vraylar (cariprazine) is approved to treat schizophrenia in adults and teens 13 and older, and to treat acute manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder in adults and children 10 and older. In adults, it is also approved for depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder (bipolar depression).

Additionally, Vraylar is approved as an add-on therapy alongside antidepressants for adults with major depressive disorder (MDD) who need extra help beyond their current antidepressant alone.
