These two interact in 2 distinct ways. Each one is explained separately below.
Why Are There 2 Interactions?
Evodia interacts with whole categories of medication. Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen falls into 2 of those categories, so it can interact with Evodia in 2 different ways. We’ve listed each one below — your overall risk is driven by the most serious of them (Moderate).
CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES
1 of 2Why this applies to Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen
Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Evodia interacts with.
In vitro research shows that evodia extract inhibits hepatic CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Vicoprofen combines hydrocodone (an opioid) with ibuprofen. The hydrocodone part is handled in part by a liver enzyme called CYP3A4. Lab studies suggest evodia might slow that enzyme down, which could let a bit more hydrocodone build up than usual. If that happened, you might notice stronger opioid effects like extra drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, nausea, or slowed breathing.
Here's the honest part: this is only seen in test tube research, not in actual people, so it's a theoretical concern rather than something proven. Hydrocodone is also activated and broken down by other enzymes too, so the real-world impact is uncertain. Still, since opioids carry real risks, I'd run this combination by your pharmacist or doctor before pairing them.

ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS
2 of 2Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen also falls under ANTICOAGULANT/ANTIPLATELET DRUGS.
In vitro and animal studies show that rutaecarpine, a constituent of evodia, inhibits platelet aggregation.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the thing to keep in mind with Vicoprofen: it contains ibuprofen, an NSAID, and NSAIDs already nudge up your bleeding risk a little by making platelets stickier and slower to clump. Evodia contains a compound called rutaecarpine that, in lab and animal studies, also slows platelets down. So in theory, pairing the two could add up and make bruising or bleeding a bit more likely (think nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or stomach upset that turns into something more).
I want to be honest about the evidence here, though. This concern comes only from test tube and animal research, not from people, so it's more of a theoretical caution than a proven problem. Still, before you combine them, run it by your pharmacist or doctor, especially if you're older, on blood thinners, or have any history of stomach ulcers.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Hydrocodone, Ibuprofen page
“Vicoprofen pairs hydrocodone, an opioid, with ibuprofen, an NSAID, which gives supplements two separate ways to cause trouble, and 13 of the 379 interactions on file are rated major, so this page deserves a careful read rather than a skim. The biggest patterns are bleeding and sedation: more than 200 of these ingredients can add to ibu…”
