Lurasidone falls under CYTOCHROME P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) SUBSTRATES — the group Evodia interacts with.

Theoretically, evodia might increase the levels and clinical effects of CYP3A4 substrates.
In vitro research shows that evodia extract inhibits hepatic CYP3A4. This effect has not been reported in humans.

Here's the simple version: your body relies on a liver enzyme called CYP3A4 to clear lurasidone (Latuda) out of your system. In test tube studies, evodia appears to slow that same enzyme down. If that happened in real life, lurasidone could build up higher than intended and hang around longer, which could mean stronger side effects like drowsiness, dizziness, restlessness, muscle stiffness, or feeling lightheaded when you stand up.

I want to be honest about the strength of this, though. This is only seen in lab research, not in actual people, so it's theoretical at this point. Still, because Latuda already comes with clear food and drug cautions, I'd run it past your pharmacist or doctor before adding evodia rather than guessing.

What Is Lurasidone Used For?

Brand name: Latuda

Lurasidone hydrochloride tablets are approved to treat schizophrenia in adults and adolescents aged 13 to 17, and to treat depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder (bipolar depression) in adults and children aged 10 to 17. Latuda is one of the brand names under which lurasidone is available as a tablet.

For bipolar depression, lurasidone can be used on its own (monotherapy) in adults and pediatric patients aged 10 to 17, or used alongside lithium or valproate (adjunctive therapy) in adults.
