Fenugreek may also have an additive effect on blood pressure-lowering medications. Studies on animals have shown that fenugreek seed can decrease both systolic and diastolic blood pressure by up to 22% when combined with metoprolol. Therefore, it is essential to monitor your blood pressure regularly if you are taking fenugreek and metoprolol together or any other antihypertensive drugs.

Here's the thing about nitroprusside (Nitropress): it isn't a pill you take at home. It's a powerful IV medication given in the hospital, usually in intensive care, to bring down dangerously high blood pressure or to manage blood pressure during surgery. Patients getting it are watched very closely, often with continuous blood pressure monitoring.

The idea behind this interaction is simple addition: fenugreek may nudge blood pressure down a little, so stacked on top of a strong blood pressure lowerer, the combined effect could be slightly greater. In practice, this is a minor concern backed mostly by animal data, and the hospital team is already adjusting your dose minute to minute. Honestly, you wouldn't be taking fenugreek supplements during this kind of treatment anyway. If you use fenugreek regularly, just mention it to your care team.
