Verapamil falls under Antihypertensive Drugs — the group Fenugreek interacts with.

Fenugreek may also have an additive effect on blood pressure-lowering medications. Studies on animals have shown that fenugreek seed can decrease both systolic and diastolic blood pressure by up to 22% when combined with metoprolol. Therefore, it is essential to monitor your blood pressure regularly if you are taking fenugreek and metoprolol together or any other antihypertensive drugs.

Here's the gist: verapamil already works to bring your blood pressure down and slow your heart rate. Fenugreek, when used as a concentrated supplement, may have a mild blood pressure lowering effect of its own. Stack the two together and the effects can add up a bit. That's the basis of this interaction, and it's rated minor.

If your pressure dips too low, you might notice dizziness, lightheadedness, tiredness, or feeling faint when you stand up. Keep in mind the evidence here is weak and mostly from animal studies (using a different blood pressure drug), so this is more of a heads-up than a red flag. Sprinkling fenugreek on food is very unlikely to matter. If you're taking supplement doses, just check your blood pressure now and then and mention it to your pharmacist or doctor.

Some early research is encouraging for blood sugar, but overall the evidence is mixed and far from settled. About Verapamil

What Is Verapamil Used For?

Brand names: Isoptin SR, Verelan, Isoptin, Calan SR, Verelan SR, Calan, Covera HS, Verap, Veramil

Verapamil tablets and film-coated tablets are used to treat angina — including vasospastic (Prinzmetal's) angina, unstable angina, and chronic stable angina — as well as certain abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and high blood pressure (essential hypertension). For arrhythmias, regular-release tablets are used alongside digoxin to control heart rate in atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation, and to help prevent episodes of paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), a type of rapid heartbeat.

Extended-release and sustained-release oral forms (tablets and capsules) are indicated specifically for high blood pressure. Verapamil hydrochloride injection is used in hospital settings for rapid conversion of SVT to normal rhythm and for temporary control of fast heart rates in atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation.
