Fulvic Acid and Ofatumumab

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.

Moderate

IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS

Why this applies to Ofatumumab

Ofatumumab falls under IMMUNOSUPPRESSANTS — the group Fulvic Acid interacts with.

Theoretically, taking fulvic acid might decrease the effects of immunosuppressive therapy.
Animal research shows that fulvic acid stimulates immune function.
Severity Moderate Likelihood Possible Evidence D

Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.

Dr. Brian Staiger, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Brian Staiger explains PharmD, Clinical Pharmacist

Here's the idea behind this pairing. Ofatumumab (Kesimpta) is a monoclonal antibody that quiets part of your immune system to slow MS flare-ups. Fulvic acid, in animal and test-tube studies only, seems to do the opposite and rev the immune system up a bit. So in theory, taking it could work against the calming effect Kesimpta is trying to achieve, which might mean more relapses or symptom flares over time.

I want to be honest with you though: this is theoretical, based on lab and animal work, not real human data with this drug. That said, since ofatumumab is a serious medication for a serious condition, I wouldn't add fulvic acid on your own. Please run it by your neurologist or pharmacist first.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Ofatumumab page

“Kesimpta (ofatumumab) treats multiple sclerosis by deliberately quieting part of the immune system, and all 53 supplements on this page raise the same worry from the opposite direction. Each is thought to stimulate immune activity, which could in theory blunt what the drug is trying to do.”

About Ofatumumab Injection (Multiple Sclerosis)

What Is Ofatumumab Injection (Multiple Sclerosis) Used For?

Brand name: Kesimpta

Kesimpta is used to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS) in adults. This includes clinically isolated syndrome (a first MS episode), relapsing-remitting MS (the most common form, with flares followed by recovery periods), and active secondary progressive MS (when the disease slowly worsens but still has active flares).

It is designed to reduce relapses and slow disease activity by targeting certain immune cells believed to drive MS damage.
