In vitro evidence shows that fulvic acid, formed from the oxidation and polymerization of protocatechuic acid, can shorten prothrombin time in human plasma, increasing the risk of clot formation.

Here's something worth knowing if you take Cibinqo (abrocitinib) for your eczema. The interaction on file is really about fulvic acid's effect on blood thinners, the kind that prevent clots. In lab studies (test tube only, not people), fulvic acid shortened the time it took plasma to clot, which could in theory work against drugs that thin the blood or block platelets.

Now, abrocitinib itself isn't a typical blood thinner, but JAK inhibitors like it can affect blood platelets and carry a small clot-related risk on their own. So adding something that might nudge clotting in the same direction is the concern here. This is theoretical and based on weak lab evidence, so don't panic. Just run it by your pharmacist or doctor before combining the two.

Here is the idea behind this pairing. Abrocitinib (Cibinqo) works by calming down part of your immune system to ease severe eczema. Fulvic acid, on the other hand, has shown in animal and lab studies that it may stimulate immune activity. So in theory, the two could work against each other, and fulvic acid might chip away at how well your medication controls your skin.

If that happened, you might notice your eczema creeping back, more itching, dryness, or those red, scaly patches returning. To be clear, this is theoretical only and has not been proven in people, so I would not panic. Still, before adding fulvic acid, please run it by your pharmacist or dermatologist so they can keep an eye on how your skin is doing.

What Is Abrocitinib Used For?

Brand name: Cibinqo

Cibinqo (abrocitinib) is used to treat moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis (eczema) in adults and children 12 years of age and older. It is specifically for people whose eczema has not been adequately controlled with other systemic (whole-body) treatments, including biologics, or when those treatments are not a safe option.

Cibinqo is not recommended to be used at the same time as other JAK inhibitors, biologic immunomodulators, or other immunosuppressants (medicines that reduce immune system activity).
