Here's the simple version: Xanax (alprazolam) already calms your brain down, and Galphimia glauca appears to do something similar based on lab and animal research. Stack the two together and you may feel more of that calming than you bargained for, like extra drowsiness, grogginess, dizziness, slowed thinking, or feeling unsteady on your feet.

I want to be honest about how strong this concern is. Right now it's theoretical, meaning it comes from how these things work on paper, not from solid studies of people taking them together. That doesn't mean ignore it, just don't panic. If you're thinking about using this supplement while on alprazolam, run it by your pharmacist or doctor first, and be careful with driving until you know how the combo affects you.

About Alprazolam

What Is Alprazolam Used For?

Brand names: Xanax, Niravam

Alprazolam treats generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia, in adults. These uses are supported across multiple alprazolam products, including tablets, orally disintegrating tablets, oral solution, and extended-release tablets.

Xanax (tablet) is indicated for the acute treatment of GAD and for panic disorder. Xanax XR (extended-release tablet) and alprazolam extended-release tablets are indicated specifically for panic disorder with or without agoraphobia — not for GAD. Alprazolam orally disintegrating tablets and alprazolam oral solution are indicated for both GAD and panic disorder.
