Here's the gist of pairing this herb with cetirizine. Galphimia glauca seems to have a mild calming, sedating effect of its own. Cetirizine, even though it's one of the so-called non-drowsy allergy pills, still makes some people feel a little sleepy or sluggish. Put the two together and those drowsy feelings could simply stack up, leaving you more tired, foggy, or slowed down than you'd expect from either one alone.

I'll be honest with you: this is a theoretical concern based on how the herb behaves, not on strong human studies, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. Cetirizine doesn't need to be activated by your body, so this isn't about the drug building up. Still, if you plan to use both, mention it to your pharmacist or doctor first, and go easy when driving until you know how you feel.

What Is Cetirizine Injection Used For?

Brand names: Cetirizine, Zyrtec, Quzyttir

Quzyttir (cetirizine injection) is approved to treat acute urticaria — a sudden outbreak of hives — in adults and in children 6 months of age and older. It is given by intravenous (IV) injection in a medically supervised setting.

Quzyttir is not recommended for children under 6 years of age who have impaired kidney or liver function.
