Here's the gist with Felbamate and Galphimia glauca. Felbamate already works by quieting overactive signals in the brain, and on its own it can leave some people feeling drowsy, tired, dizzy, or a little unsteady. Galphimia glauca has been studied as a calming, anti-anxiety herb, and lab and animal work suggests it may have its own mild sedative effect.

Put the two together and the worry is simply added sleepiness or sluggishness, not a change in how your seizure medicine is broken down. I'll be honest, this is theoretical and based on how things work on paper, not on strong human studies, so it may not amount to much. Still, if you notice extra grogginess or trouble concentrating, loop in your pharmacist or doctor before making any changes.

About Felbamate

What Is Felbamate Used For?

Brand name: Felbatol

Felbamate is not a first-line seizure medication. It is used only when a person's epilepsy has not responded well enough to other treatments and the seizures are severe enough that the serious risks of this drug are considered acceptable.

In adults, felbamate can be used alone or alongside other antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) to treat partial seizures (seizures that start in one part of the brain), with or without spreading to become a full seizure. In children, felbamate is used as an add-on treatment for both partial and generalized seizures linked to Lennox-Gastaut syndrome, a severe form of childhood epilepsy. Felbatol is specifically labeled for these uses in both adults and children.
