Garcinia + Interferon Beta-1a
Interferon Beta-1a brand names: Rebif, Avonex.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Interferon Beta-1a
Interferon Beta-1a falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.
There have been reports of acute hepatitis with elevated liver enzymes associated with garcinia, when taken alone or in combination with other ingredients. Case reports collected from the Drug Induced Liver Injury Network suggest this risk may be greater in people who carry the HLA B*35:01 allele.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the simple version: both Garcinia and your MS medicine, Interferon Beta-1a (Rebif, Avonex), can each be hard on the liver in some people. This isn't about one changing how the other is broken down. It's that stacking two things that can stress the liver may add up. Interferon beta is already known to sometimes raise liver enzymes, and Garcinia has its own rare reports of liver inflammation (hepatitis).
To be honest, this is a theoretical concern based on how each acts, not strong proof. Still, watch for warning signs like yellowing of the eyes or skin, dark urine, unusual tiredness, belly pain, or nausea. Since your doctor already monitors your liver on interferon, please check with them or your pharmacist before adding Garcinia rather than starting it on your own.

From our pharmacist’s overview on the Interferon Beta-1a page
“Siberian cocklebur, an herb tied to documented cases of liver failure, is the first name to know for anyone injecting interferon beta-1a (Rebif, Avonex) for multiple sclerosis. Interferon beta-1a can strain the liver on its own, which is why prescribers order routine liver blood tests, and 38 of the 57 supplements on file carry that sa…”
