Rosuvastatin falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.

Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.
There have been reports of acute hepatitis with elevated liver enzymes associated with garcinia, when taken alone or in combination with other ingredients. Case reports collected from the Drug Induced Liver Injury Network suggest this risk may be greater in people who carry the HLA B*35:01 allele.

Here's the concern with pairing Garcinia and rosuvastatin (Crestor). This isn't about Garcinia changing your statin levels in the blood. Instead, both can occasionally be hard on the liver. Statins like rosuvastatin can sometimes nudge up liver enzymes, and there are real case reports of Garcinia causing liver inflammation (hepatitis), sometimes serious. Stacking two things that may stress the liver could, in theory, add up.

To be fair, this is a theoretical concern based on how each works, not proven harm from the combo. Still, watch for warning signs like yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness. Since the weight-loss benefit of Garcinia is weak, it's worth asking your pharmacist or doctor whether it's worth the risk for you.

Garcinia is a tropical fruit whose rind contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA), widely marketed for weight loss and appetite control. The scientific evidence is weak and mixed, with most studies showing only small or no meaningful weight effects, and rare reports of liver problems raise safety concerns. About Rosuvastatin

What Is Rosuvastatin Used For?

Brand names: Crestor, Ezallor

Rosuvastatin tablets are used alongside diet changes to lower LDL-C ("bad" cholesterol), total cholesterol, and triglycerides (blood fats), and to raise HDL-C ("good" cholesterol) in adults with high cholesterol or mixed cholesterol problems. They are also used in adults with very high triglycerides, a condition called primary dysbetalipoproteinemia (Type III, a genetic fat-metabolism disorder), and to slow the buildup of plaque in arteries (atherosclerosis).

In people without established heart disease but with multiple risk factors, rosuvastatin tablets can reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and procedures to open blocked arteries. For children and teens aged 8 and older with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH, an inherited high-cholesterol condition), the tablet form is used to lower LDL-C after diet alone has not worked. Crestor tablets are also approved to treat homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HoFH, a more severe inherited form) in adults and in children aged 7 and older.
