Garcinia + Levofloxacin
Levofloxacin brand names: Levaquin, Levaquin Injection, Leva-pak.
Garcinia has a moderate interaction with Levofloxacin. Theoretically, concomitant use with other potentially hepatotoxic drugs might increase the risk of developing liver damage.

Here is the interaction we found between these two, with the evidence behind it.
HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS
Why this applies to Levofloxacin
Levofloxacin falls under HEPATOTOXIC DRUGS — the group Garcinia interacts with.
There have been reports of acute hepatitis with elevated liver enzymes associated with garcinia, when taken alone or in combination with other ingredients. Case reports collected from the Drug Induced Liver Injury Network suggest this risk may be greater in people who carry the HLA B*35:01 allele.
Interaction has been documented in animal or in lab research, or the interaction has been documented in humans but is limited to case reports or conflicting clinical research exists.
Here's the concern with pairing Garcinia and levofloxacin: both can occasionally stress your liver. Garcinia has been linked to rare cases of liver inflammation (acute hepatitis with raised liver enzymes), and levofloxacin, while usually well tolerated, can also irritate the liver in uncommon cases. Stacking two things that each carry a small liver risk could, in theory, add up.
To be clear, this is a theoretical caution based on how each one behaves, not proof that they cause harm together. It's not about one changing the other's blood levels. Still, while you're on levofloxacin, watch for yellowing skin or eyes, dark urine, belly pain, or unusual tiredness, and call your doctor if those show up. Check with your pharmacist before combining them, especially if you have any liver issues.

About Garcinia
What is Garcinia?
- Weight loss
- Appetite suppression
- Curbing sugar and carb cravings
- Supporting metabolism
- Traditional cooking and souring agent
Garcinia is a tropical fruit whose rind contains hydroxycitric acid (HCA), widely marketed for weight loss and appetite control. The scientific evidence is weak and mixed, with most studies showing only small or no meaningful weight effects, and rare reports of liver problems raise safety concerns. Talk to a pharmacist or doctor before trying it, especially if you have liver issues, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding.
About Levofloxacin
What Is Levofloxacin Used For?
Brand names: Levaquin, Levaquin Injection, Leva-pak
Levofloxacin treats bacterial infections in adults, including pneumonia (both community-acquired and hospital-acquired), skin infections, urinary tract infections, kidney infections, chronic bacterial prostatitis, and sinus infections. It is also used after exposure to inhalational anthrax and for plague.
Because levofloxacin carries significant risks, it should only be used for uncomplicated urinary tract infections, acute bacterial worsening of chronic bronchitis, and acute bacterial sinusitis when no other treatment option is available. Always use it only for infections confirmed or strongly suspected to be bacterial.
