Theoretically, taking garden cress with antihypertensive drugs might increase the risk of hypotension.
Garden cress has shown hypotensive effects in animal research and increases levels and effects of the antihypertensive medications amlodipine and losartan. This has not been shown in humans.

Here's the simple version: garden cress may have a mild blood-pressure-lowering effect of its own. So if you pair concentrated garden cress seed supplements with valsartan, the two could add together and push your pressure a bit lower than you intend. In a few animal studies, garden cress raised the levels and effects of related blood pressure drugs like losartan, but this has not been confirmed in people.

If your blood pressure dipped too low, you might feel dizzy, lightheaded, tired, or shaky, especially when standing up quickly. The good news: cress used as a food in normal cooking amounts is very unlikely to cause trouble. It's mainly the concentrated seed supplements worth asking about. Check with your pharmacist or doctor before adding them.

About Valsartan

What Is Valsartan Used For?

Brand names: Diovan, Prexxartan

Valsartan treats high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults and children, heart failure in adults, and reduces the risk of cardiovascular death in adults who have had a heart attack and have a weakened heart muscle. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of stroke and heart attack.

Diovan (valsartan) tablets are approved to treat high blood pressure in children as young as 1 year old. Valsartan tablets (other brands) are approved for children 6 years and older. Valsartan oral solution is specifically indicated for patients with heart failure or post-heart attack left ventricular dysfunction who are unable to swallow tablets.
